Bank Street Staten Island. Don't forget to zoom in!
There are so many things that I want to do when I visit New York City I couldn’t possibly list them in one go. However, one thing I am really looking forward to is travelling on the elevated train tracks. This particular link sums up what I like the most about these elevated trains in NYC; the old tracks running over the ground with the cars driving underneath, seen in so many movies over the years.. Some of them looking rusty and worse for wear but such an integral part of what makes New York so special to me.
The way these trains/tracks cut into the buildings and the whole atmosphere, sights and smells, make it one of my top hotspots to visit. I’m so looking forward to actually travelling on one of these and seeing the city from the perspective of those who travel these rails everyday.
I often follow under the tracks via Google Streetview and am amazed at the amount of stations that I come across and how close they are to one another.
Living so close to London, I travel the Underground here and we do have certain parts that are elevated rather than being so deep underground and rather dark. The (hopefully) day when I get to actually travel on these NYC rails makes me wonder if my expectations will be exceeded.
On the corner of Crescent Street and Fulton Street.
